Who

WHO? Illustrative Artist and Interior Designer Creative, Equestrian, Kid-at-HeartShelly Renee Gerritsma, (but we can leave out the formalities and you can call me Shelly). I grew up in the American southwest in the 1980's and 90's. Childhood consisted of outdoor play until the street lights came on, and Saturday morning cartoons. Lots of reading and imagining, drawing and coloring. It was the best.

WHAT? Illustrative Art and Interior Design. As a grown-up (well...mostly), I create surface patterns and artwork for amazing brands like Williams-Sonoma, wonderful interior designers from across the country, architects, small businesses, and home DIY'ers. My surface patterns are available on fabric, wallpaper, and home decor at Spoonflower. You can also navigate to my various collections and patterns here.

WHY? When I graduated from university and embarked on my career path, I figured I would be practicing interior design forever. But, life handed me some lemons and told me to go make lemonade. The lemons were in the form of medical diagnoses and chronic struggles that left me with no other choice than to drastically change my lifestyle. The journey is an ongoing one, and I still find myself randomly yelling 'PLOT TWIST!' and moving on, but that's what makes the lemonade so much sweeter, don't you think?
